October 10, 2016 - During the last week of September the annual conferences on "Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation" IPIN 2016 were held at the School of Engineering of the University of Alcalá de Henares. This annual event brings together many of the world's leading scientists, researchers and companies working on indoor positioning and indoor navigation technologies.
It is a good opportunity to learn about trends, work in progress, new lines of research and some of the products already being marketed by companies.
This event was held last year in Calgary (Canada) and next year it will be held in Sapporo (Japan).
Aplicaziones has been fortunate to be invited by the organisation to present its solution for locating and tracking people inside buildings. Our solution is based on the use of a simple mobile phone, as a locator, so that we get a low-cost positioning solution based on the cloud. The location determination is done through various strategies developed through our Veloz R&D project. This positioning solution is the key to the vertical solutions we are developing tailor-made for different markets.
Other indoor location solutions that could also be seen were based on the use of Bluetooth beacons, Zigbee and UWB.
It was fortunate that this year these conferences were held in Spain. For the University of Alcalá de Henares it has been an opportunity to showcase all the work it has been doing in recent years and we are sure that it will help to boost this sector among Spanish researchers and companies.
